I was so excited when I was booked for this wedding. I was contacted by the bride’s mom a few months before the wedding date, and it happened to be the only Saturday of the summer that I had off. The wedding sounded amazing…on a private family island on Georgian Bay. I love water. I love Georgian Bay. I love weddings.

As I was driving north on that Saturday morning the sky got darker and darker. I spoke with the bride on the phone (I hadn’t met her yet) and she explained that there would be a delay in picking me up because of a storm that was going through. When I took the water taxi out to their island, through heavy rain and a thunder storm, I kept thinking at least I know how to swim! and all I was worried about was my gear! I had not met the bride and groom yet or their family as they are from the states, but have a cottage here (where the wedding was). I arrived on the island drenched, and I guess I could say not at my best! They were all amazing and so welcoming. The day was full of love and family. I took off my wet shoes when I got there and didn’t put them back on until I left that night. Shot the wedding barefoot which is my dream foot wear!

The day was full of so many personal touches, love, family and friends. I met so many wonderful people. We had a bit of rain (which moved the ceremony into the cottage at the last minute), but it didn’t change the amazing event that unfolded on that little island in the middle of Georgian Bay.

Today is such a beautiful day here, and hopefully a sign that spring is on it’s way!! It got me thinking of all my up and coming weddings, and thinking back to all the beautiful weddings that I shot last year. We had such an amazing fall, and thanks-giving weekend was possibly one of the most amazing weekends for weather! I shot two weddings that weekend, and both were stunning.

To get me through the winter, and looking forward to the summer I am going to start sharing some of my weddings from 2011 which I didn’t have the chance to post as life was so crazy!!!

One of my favourite part of the wedding day is spending the morning with the bridal party, photographing details, and all the beauty in getting ready. This day was amazing, bride was stunning, details were perfect. As I am unable to share images of the groom, I thought I would share all the lovely details of this day, as well as the stunning bride.

Last year around this time I started planning a Tea Party styled shoot. I put a shout out on my Facebook page for any businesses that might be interested in working with me. I was so fortunate to connect and meet many wonderful ladies, and I continue to work with them as well as value their friendship and our creative like-ness!

As women do, we talk, we plan, we collaborate, and we compliment each other’s talents. Two of these ladies have recently started working together styling and planning party’s/events. I was fortunate enough to be able to hang out with them last Friday night when they were putting together a Pink Gingham themed 1st birthday party for a little sweetie that I also photographed last week.

I trekked out in a blizzard Saturday morning to take some photos of their set up before the big party!!

You can find Jenn at By Invitation Only and Laura at 2Sweeties, and of course here working with me!!! Looking forward to some fun collaborations this summer! {we are already planning the cottage business planning nights while the kids are tucked in and the wine is flowing!!}

Meet Ava, who just turned one! and what a lucky little girl to have such an amazing party planned for her!!
