I was so excited when I was booked for this wedding. I was contacted by the bride’s mom a few months before the wedding date, and it happened to be the only Saturday of the summer that I had off. The wedding sounded amazing…on a private family island on Georgian Bay. I love water. I love Georgian Bay. I love weddings.

As I was driving north on that Saturday morning the sky got darker and darker. I spoke with the bride on the phone (I hadn’t met her yet) and she explained that there would be a delay in picking me up because of a storm that was going through. When I took the water taxi out to their island, through heavy rain and a thunder storm, I kept thinking at least I know how to swim! and all I was worried about was my gear! I had not met the bride and groom yet or their family as they are from the states, but have a cottage here (where the wedding was). I arrived on the island drenched, and I guess I could say not at my best! They were all amazing and so welcoming. The day was full of love and family. I took off my wet shoes when I got there and didn’t put them back on until I left that night. Shot the wedding barefoot which is my dream foot wear!

The day was full of so many personal touches, love, family and friends. I met so many wonderful people. We had a bit of rain (which moved the ceremony into the cottage at the last minute), but it didn’t change the amazing event that unfolded on that little island in the middle of Georgian Bay.
